This spring the Watt lab joined all the labs from the Cell Biology and Biophysics Unit in EMBL on a retreat to Tripsdrill. The retreat was a two day long event with the first half focused on showcasing the current research being done in each participating lab. There were many interesting talks covering a wide range of topics. Purna Gadre, from our lab, presented her work on the crosstalk between Notch and ERK-MAPK signalling pathways in epidermal stem cells.
As Tripsdrill is an wildlife and amusement park, on the second day of the retreat we got the chance to go on quite a few roller-coasters and enjoy the many water rides! We also went to explore the local flora and fauna and got to see some very majestic animals like the Brown Bear and the Lynx.
Overall, the retreat was a nice opportunity to exchange ideas, get feedback from fellow unit members, and mostly importantly have fun!
